Bank of Baroda posts Q3 net loss of Rs 1406.95 cr

The bank reported standalone net loss during the quarter stood at Rs 1406.95 crore compared to net profit of Rs 471.25 crore in the previous year quarter.ÿ

Interest income of the bank rose by 47.34 per cent at Rs 19067.91 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2019 as against Rs 12941.71 crore in the corresponding period last year.

During the October-December quarter, total income rose substantially by 49.76 per cent to Rs 21,809.08 crore from Rs 14,562.85 crore in the year ago period.

Meanwhile, operating expenses increased by 52.85 per cent to Rs 16,850.61 crore from Rs 11,024.32 crore in the same period last year.

Operating profit surged 40.13 per cent to Rs 4,958.47 crore from Rs. 3,538.53 crore.

Provisions and Contingencies surged by 156.08 per cent at Rs 7,155.42 crore from Rs 2,794.20 crore a year ago.

NII, the difference between interest earned on loans and interest paid on deposits, increased by 50.30 per cent at Rs 7,129.05 crore versus Rs 4,743.23 crore in the year ago period. Non-interest income rose 69.09 per cent year-on-year to Rs 2,741.17 crore.

On the asset side, gross non- performing assets (NPAs)ÿfellÿto 10.43 per cent of the gross advances as at the end of December 31, 2019 from a level of 11.01 per cent year earlier. Its net NPAs or bad loans tooÿdeclinedÿto 4.05 per cent of net advances on December 31, 2019 from 4.26 per cent a year ago.
