Cabinet approves Rs 1,299 crore Central Government Office Complex in Amaravati

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the construction of a Central Government General Pool Office Accommodation (CGGPOA) complex in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, at an estimated cost of Rs 1,299.08 crore.

The project is a key component of the development of Amaravati as a modern greenfield capital city and aims to meet the growing office space requirements of various Central Government departments. By bringing multiple offices under one roof, the facility is expected to improve inter-departmental coordination and enhance the efficiency of government service delivery in Andhra Pradesh.

Spread across 5.53 acres, the office complex will comprise two major blocks with a combined built-up area of approximately 23.25 lakh square feet. The facility is designed to accommodate around 8,000 government officials and staff members and will include parking space for nearly 1,800 vehicles.

The project has been planned in line with sustainable construction practices and will target a minimum 4-Star GRIHA rating. It will incorporate energy-efficient systems, water conservation measures, eco-friendly building materials, and comply with the latest Energy Conservation and Sustainable Building Code (ECSBC) 2024 standards.

To support employees and visitors, the campus will feature a range of amenities, including a bank with ATM, post office, crŠche, recreation room, conference hall, multipurpose hall, canteens, and other support facilities. The design will also ensure barrier-free accessibility for persons with disabilities.

The construction phase is expected to generate around 7 lakh man-days of employment annually, while the operational phase is projected to create approximately 50,000 man-days of employment each year.

The project will be implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs through the Central Public Works Department (CPWD). Preliminary activities, including tender preparation and pre-bid processes, are already underway.
