Bata India Ltd has appointed Sanjay Rao as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

Rao will succeed Gunjan Shah, who is set to conclude his tenure after completing his five-year mandate at the helm of the footwear major.

Prior to joining Bata India, Rao was associated with Nike, where he most recently served as Senior Director, Nike Retail, overseeing operations across the France and Benelux markets.

The appointment comes as Bata India continues its efforts to strengthen its market position and accelerate growth in the evolving footwear and retail landscape. Rao brings extensive experience in retail operations, consumer-focused businesses, and brand management, which is expected to support the company's next phase of expansion.
