Aluminium prices rose by 0.39 per cent to Rs 165.40 per kg in futures trade on Tuesday as speculators built up fresh positions amid a positive trend in spot market.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium contracts for February delivery gained 65 paise, or 0.39 per cent, to Rs 165.40 per kg in a business turnover of 904 lots.

Analysts said creation of fresh positions by traders on demand from consumer industries supported aluminium prices in futures market.
