Aadhaar Authentication Crosses 2,707cr in 2024-25; UIDAI’s Face Authentication Gains Strong Traction

In a clear sign of growing adoption, Aadhaar holders completed over 2,707 crore authentication transactions in 2024-25, with 247 crore transactions recorded in March alone.

Aadhaar continues to be a key enabler of the digital economy, with its increasing usage spanning sectors such as banking, finance, telecom, and the delivery of government welfare schemes and services.

The 246.75 crore authentication transactions in March 2025 exceeded those in both February 2025 and the same period last year. Since its inception, Aadhaar’s cumulative authentication transactions have surpassed 14,800 crore.

UIDAI’s in-house developed AI/ML-based Face Authentication solution is witnessing strong growth, with over 15 crore face authentications conducted in March. More than 100 government and private entities are now using this modality to enhance service delivery.

On April 21, UIDAI received the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration under the Innovation category, recognizing its achievement with the Face Authentication technology.

Aadhaar e-KYC services also continue to enhance customer experience and ease of doing business, particularly in banking and financial services. In March 2025, over 44.63 crore e-KYC transactions were completed, marking a growth of over 6% compared to the same period last year. The total number of e-KYC transactions reached 2,356 crore by March 31, 2025.

Additionally, 20 lakh new Aadhaar numbers were generated and more than 1.91 crore Aadhaar updates were successfully processed during March 2025.
