The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday directed banks to ensure that ATMs consistently dispense Rs 100 and Rs 200 denomination notes to improve public access to these commonly used currencies.

Banks and White Label ATM Operators (WLAOs) have been instructed to implement this move in a phased manner.

In a circular, the RBI stated, "As part of efforts to enhance public access to frequently used denominations, all banks and WLAOs must ensure their ATMs regularly dispense Rs 100 and Rs 200 banknotes."
