Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh held a bilateral meeting with Norway’s Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy, Ms. Marianne Sivertsen Ness, to discuss key areas of cooperation in sustainable fisheries, marine resource management, and blue economy initiatives.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) in Nice, France, focused on strengthening India-Norway collaboration in ocean governance. Both leaders emphasized the need for sustainable use of marine resources, joint action against overfishing and marine pollution, and improved data sharing mechanisms.
During delegation-level talks, India and Norway reiterated their commitment to advancing the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021–2030), with a focus on capacity building, knowledge exchange, and technology sharing.
The Ministers also explored ways to build on their existing partnership, aligning efforts with the development of a sustainable and inclusive blue economy. Dr. Singh highlighted India's commitment to protecting ocean health, supporting coastal communities, and promoting ocean-based livelihoods.
