India’s retail inflation cooled to a more than six-year low of 2.82% in May, driven by a sharp decline in food prices, including vegetables, fruits, and protein-rich items, according to data released by the government on Thursday.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI)-based inflation had stood at 3.16% in April and 4.8% in May 2024.
Food inflation saw a significant drop to 0.99% in May, compared to 8.69% in the same month last year, as per the National Statistics Office (NSO) data.
