India's wholesale price inflation (WPI) eased to a 14-month low of 0.39% in May, driven by a decline in food and fuel prices, according to data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. This marks a drop from 0.85% in April and 2.74% recorded in May last year.
The ministry noted that inflation remained in the positive zone largely due to rising prices in food manufacturing, electricity, chemicals, non-food articles, and transport equipment. However, analysts warned that ongoing geopolitical tensions could reverse this trend by putting upward pressure on prices in the coming months.
