Star Health partners with Medi Assist to digitise claims with AI

Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Ltd., India’s largest retail health insurer, has announced a strategic partnership with Medi Assist to implement MAtrix, an advanced AI-driven claims platform. This collaboration marks a major milestone in Star Health’s digital transformation journey, aimed at accelerating claim settlements, enhancing customer experience, and driving technology-led service excellence.

The partnership introduces intelligent automation into Star Health’s claims ecosystem, enabling faster, more consistent, and transparent processing. By leveraging AI tools, the initiative also focuses on fraud detection, waste reduction, and improving overall operational efficiency.

Through this integration, Star Health is strengthening its digital capabilities to better serve hospitals, policyholders, and regulators in a fast-evolving healthcare landscape. The AI-powered platform streamlines workflows, reduces manual intervention, and improves turnaround times, positioning the insurer to manage increasing claim volumes with greater agility.

Anand Roy, MD & CEO of Star Health Insurance, commented, “This partnership marks a significant step in enhancing our in-house claims management capabilities. By adopting Medi Assist’s platform, we’re not only improving speed and accuracy but also focusing on reducing fraud and standardizing processes. Our aim is to offer transparent, efficient, and policyholder-centric claims service in today’s dynamic health insurance environment.”

Medi Assist CEO Satish Gidugu added, “We’re thrilled to partner with Star Health on this transformative journey. This collaboration is set to redefine benchmarks for technology-enabled insurance services, ensuring superior experiences for policyholders.”

A key advantage of the platform is its rule- and configuration-based engine, which ensures uniform and objective claims adjudication. AI co-pilot features support Star Health’s teams in making faster, more informed decisions while enhancing fraud detection using machine learning tools.

Additionally, customer engagement is set to improve significantly with the integration of AI-powered chatbots, virtual assistants, and omnichannel support across mobile apps and WhatsApp. A unified API framework enables secure, real-time data exchange with insurers, healthcare providers, and the National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX), enhancing system-wide interoperability.

This collaboration represents a significant advancement in India’s digital health insurance landscape, blending cutting-edge innovation with operational readiness and a strong focus on delivering better outcomes for policyholders.
