Bikaji Foods forms JV with Chaudhary Group to expand into Nepal

Bikaji Foods International Ltd, one of India’s largest ethnic snacks brands, has entered into a strategic joint venture with Nepal’s leading conglomerate, Chaudhary Group (CG), as part of its international expansion strategy. The partnership marks a significant step in Bikaji’s efforts to bring authentic Indian flavours to the Nepalese market.

Under the Joint Venture cum Shareholders’ Agreement, the new entity will be jointly owned by Bikaji and CG Foods on a 50:50 basis. Both parties will invest capital in one or more phases to establish a modern manufacturing facility in Nepal, ensuring the timely delivery of premium ethnic snacks and sweets to local consumers.

The venture will focus on manufacturing, marketing, and distributing Bikaji’s core product categories—bhujia, namkeen, papad, packaged sweets, and snacks—tailored to Nepalese tastes. The collaboration merges Bikaji’s legacy in ethnic snacks with Chaudhary Group’s strong local presence and market knowledge, aiming to reshape Nepal’s fast-growing FMCG sector.

Deepak Agarwal, Managing Director of Bikaji Foods, called the joint venture a "pivotal milestone" in the company’s global growth journey. He emphasized that the partnership with CG Group will help deliver high-quality, affordable products to the Nepalese market while also strengthening local supply chains and empowering communities.

Varun Chaudhary, Director of CG Foods Nepal Ltd, said the collaboration is more than a commercial alliance—it represents a commitment to advancing food innovation in Nepal and generating long-term socio-economic value through employment and infrastructure development.

The announcement comes at a time when Nepal’s FMCG sector is witnessing rapid growth—around 20% annually—driven by a rising middle class, growing consumer spending, and increased e-commerce penetration. With a population of nearly 30 million and a market valued at over a billion dollars, Nepal presents a promising opportunity for Bikaji to contribute to the evolving food landscape through this landmark partnership.
