The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the redemption price for the premature redemption of the Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) 2019-20 Series-III, due on August 14, 2025.

As per the Government of India’s notification dated May 30, 2019, premature redemption of SGBs is allowed after the fifth year from the date of issue, on interest payment dates. The SGB 2019-20 Series-III was issued on August 14, 2019, making it eligible for redemption this year.

The redemption price has been fixed at Rs 9,991 per unit, based on the simple average of the closing gold prices of 999 purity for August 11, 12, and 13, 2025, as published by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA).
