Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation stayed in the negative zone for the second month in a row, coming in at (-) 0.58% in July, driven by deflation in food articles and fuel, even as manufactured goods registered a price rise, according to government data released on Thursday.
WPI inflation stood at (-) 0.13% in June and was 2.10% in July last year.
“The negative rate of inflation in July 2025 is primarily due to a fall in prices of food articles, mineral oils, crude petroleum & natural gas, and basic metals,” the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said in a statement.
