Crude oil prices gained Rs 36 to Rs 5,562 per barrel in futures trade on Monday as traders built fresh positions amid strong spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), October delivery contracts rose Rs 36, or 0.65%, to Rs 5,562 per barrel with a business turnover of 8,064 lots.

Analysts said increased buying by participants supported crude oil prices in futures trade.
