Elgi Equipments Ltd, a leading global manufacturer of air compressors, has unveiled its latest innovation, the Demand=Match system, designed to optimize fixed-speed compressors under fluctuating demand. The technology automatically adjusts compressor output in real time by smartly recirculating airflow within the machine, delivering VFD-like energy savings while maintaining the simplicity and robustness of fixed-speed compressors.

“Compressed air is the fourth utility in every factory, yet demand is never constant. Most factories rely on fixed-speed compressors that operate at constant output even when demand drops. ELGi’s Demand=Match system introduces dynamic intelligence, automatically matching delivery to real-time plant requirements. This helps customers save energy, reduce wear, and improve uptime without heavy capital investment,” said Dr. Jairam Varadaraj, Managing Director of Elgi Equipments.

Traditional fixed-speed compressors respond to varying demand by cycling between cut-in and cut-out pressure bands, leading to energy losses, pressure overshoots, and mechanical stress on critical components, which increases operating costs and reduces equipment life. The Demand=Match system addresses these issues by ensuring delivery always matches demand, eliminating unnecessary cycling and maintaining stable pressure even under fluctuating conditions.

The system can reduce energy consumption by up to 17%, improve reliability through fewer cycles, and lower operating costs with a capital-light implementation. It also supports sustainability goals by reducing CO2 emissions. Extended warranties are available, with up to 10 years on the EG series and five years on the EQ series.
