The Election Commission of India (ECI), under Section 39A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, has allotted digital vouchers to National and State political parties for free broadcast and telecast time on Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR) during the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections, 2025.
The base allotment provides 45 minutes of broadcast/telecast time per party on regional networks, with additional time granted based on parties’ performance in the previous Bihar Assembly election. The period for broadcasting will run from the publication of the list of contesting candidates in each phase until two days before polling. Actual scheduling will be determined through a draw of lots in the presence of party representatives and CEO Bihar officials.
Political parties must submit transcripts and recordings in advance, adhering to technical standards set by Prasar Bharati, either at approved studios or Doordarshan/AIR Kendras.
Additionally, Prasar Bharati will host up to two panel discussions or debates on DD and AIR, with each eligible party allowed to nominate one representative.
