Hindustan Zinc Tops Global Sustainability Rankings for 3rd Year in a Row

Hindustan Zinc Ltd has retained its World No. 1 ranking in the Metals & Mining sector of the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) 2025, marking its third consecutive year at the top. The company secured an industry-leading score of 90/100, its highest in the past five years, outperforming 235 global companies.

The S&P Global CSA is one of the world’s most reputed ESG benchmarking systems, evaluating companies on environmental, social, and governance performance. Hindustan Zinc improved its score from 86 in 2024 to 90 in 2025, earning top ranks in areas such as climate strategy, community relations, and waste and pollution management.

As India’s largest zinc producer and among the world’s top five silver producers, Hindustan Zinc continues to advance sustainability through decarbonisation efforts, renewable energy use, water positivity, waste recycling, and community development. The company is also the first Indian metals & mining firm to join the International Council on Mining & Metals (ICMM).

Chairperson Priya Agarwal Hebbar called the achievement “a proud and humbling moment,” adding that the recognition reflects the company’s “deep-rooted commitment to ESG excellence and responsible growth.”

Hindustan Zinc aims to achieve Net Zero by 2050, source 70% of its power from renewables by FY28, and continues to expand social impact programmes that have already benefited over 2.3 million people.

The global recognition reinforces India’s growing leadership in responsible and sustainable industrial practices.
