Greaves Cotton, Ligier Group Join Hands to Advance European Micromobility with Euro V+ Diesel Engines

Greaves Cotton Limited has announced a strategic partnership with France-based Ligier Group to power the European manufacturer’s latest light quadricycle models with Euro V+ certified diesel engines. The collaboration marks a significant milestone for India’s engineering sector, reinforcing its role as a global supplier of advanced, regulatory-compliant automotive technologies.

Under the partnership, Ligier’s new models — the Ligier JS50 and Ligier Myli — are equipped with Greaves’ 499cc REVO D+ engines. Developed and manufactured at the company’s facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the engines are being supplied across multiple European markets including France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden, Latvia, Greece, Lithuania, Estonia, and the Czech Republic.

The single-cylinder, 4-stroke REVO D+ diesel engine, equipped with electronic fuel injection, delivers 6.0 kW of power at 3000 rpm and 26 Nm of torque between 1800–2200 rpm. Designed for the L6e light quadricycle category, the engine offers high fuel efficiency, low noise and vibration levels, and strong reliability—key factors driving its acceptance among European customers.

The engine’s Euro V+ certification was achieved through stringent validation protocols, including endurance trials, cold-climate testing, lifecycle reliability checks, and rigorous emissions assessments aligned with European standards. This reflects Greaves Cotton’s capability to meet the demanding regulatory and performance expectations of advanced markets.

Despite Europe’s diverse climatic conditions and high consumer expectations, the successful integration of the engine across several countries demonstrates Greaves’ ability to engineer powertrains suited for varied terrains and usage patterns. The company has also expanded its scope beyond engine supply by offering a comprehensive vehicle control ecosystem, strengthening its position as an end-to-end mobility solutions provider for global OEMs.

Greaves Cotton Limited MD & Group CEO Parag Satpute said the partnership underscores the growing global trust in India’s engineering capabilities and validates the company’s commitment to delivering world-class solutions. Ligier Group CEO Christian Dujardin praised the collaboration, noting that the jointly developed REVO D+ engine meets modern regulatory requirements while offering efficiency and reliability.

The partnership marks a significant step forward for India’s high-precision manufacturing sector, setting a benchmark for cross-border innovation in clean, efficient mobility technologies.
