India, Germany Strengthen Ties on Traditional Medicine

India and Germany have advanced their collaboration in traditional and integrative medicine during the 3rd Joint Working Group (JWG) Meeting on Alternative Medicine, held from November 18–20, 2025, in Berlin. The meeting marked another milestone in strengthening Indo-German cooperation in traditional healthcare systems.

The Indian delegation, led by Monalisha Dash, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Ayush, included senior officials from CCRAS, CCRH, the Ministry of Ayush, and MDNY. German participation was led by officials from the Federal Ministry of Health, Charit‚ Berlin, BKK mkk, and the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM).

Discussions focused on three core areas: integrating traditional medicine into public health systems, establishing reimbursement pathways to improve patient access, and enhancing regulatory approval processes. Both sides reiterated their shared commitment to promoting evidence-based, people-centric traditional medicine practices.

The delegation held key meetings with the Competence Center for Traditional and Integrative Medicine at Charit‚ University to explore joint research and progress on a proposed MoU, visited Community Hospital Havelh”he to review integrative medicine practices, and engaged with Germany’s Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) on insurance and reimbursement frameworks for traditional medicine.

The Ministry of Ayush noted that this engagement aligns with its broader strategy to globalise Ayush systems through research collaboration, regulatory harmonisation, and international partnerships. Strengthened cooperation with Germany is expected to enhance patient access to safe, high-quality integrative healthcare solutions backed by scientific validation.
