The government will notify the revised income tax return (ITR) forms under the Income Tax Act, 2025, ahead of the 2027-28 fiscal year, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary informed the Lok Sabha on Monday.

He said the CBDT’s committee on ITR simplification is undertaking wide-ranging consultations with tax experts, institutional bodies and field units of the Income Tax Department.

The Income Tax Act, 2025—enacted on August 21—will come into force from April 1, 2026, the beginning of the next financial year.
