The Union Government has released Rs 87.52 crore to Assam’s Rural Local Bodies under the XV Finance Commission for FY 2025–26. The amount represents the withheld portion of untied grants from 2024–25 for the Bodoland, Karbi Anglong, and Dima Hasao Autonomous Councils.

The untied grants may be used for local development needs under the 29 subjects of the Eleventh Schedule, excluding salaries, while tied grants support sanitation, waste management, ODF maintenance, and drinking water-related projects.
