Crude oil prices edged higher in futures trade on Thursday, rising Rs 10 to Rs 5,091 per barrel, as market participants increased their positions amid firm spot demand.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), crude oil contracts for January delivery traded up by Rs 10, or 0.2 per cent, at Rs 5,091 per barrel, with a turnover of 5,542 lots.
Analysts attributed the uptick in prices to increased buying interest and fresh positions taken by traders, supported by steady demand in the spot market.
